Ministry of Public Works and Housing Accelerates Infrastructure Development in Nusantara Capital Ahead of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) is intensifying infrastructure development in the new capital, Nusantara, in preparation for the 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 17, 2024. The projects range from ministerial coordination offices and civil servant housing to potable water facilities and the State Palace.

Acting Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) and Minister of Public Works and Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, stated that seven coordination offices will be operational by August 17. These include one tower in Coordination Office 1, one tower in Coordination Office 2, two towers in Coordination Office 3, and three towers in Coordination Office 4.

"In four Coordination Offices, each having four towers, a total of seven towers will be operational during the ceremony: one in Coordination Office 1, one in Coordination Office 2, two in Coordination Office 3, and three in Coordination Office 4," read a statement on the Ministry of PUPR's Instagram account @kemenpupr on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Additionally, at least eight towers will be functional for civil servant housing, each consisting of 60 housing units, while 14 ministerial official residences will be ready and furnished.

"The civil servant housing will have at least eight functional towers, each with 60 units, and 14 ministerial official residences will be fully furnished and operational," Basuki explained.

Potable water facilities in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, are also being prepared, with phased operations beginning on August 10, 2024. The facilities include water treatment plants, transmission pipes, reservoirs, distribution pipes, and government office pipes.

"The potable water facilities, including treatment plants, transmission pipes, reservoirs, distribution pipes, and pipes for buildings and government offices, will start operating in phases from August 10, 2024," he added.

Moreover, 15 reservoirs in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of Nusantara have been completed, serving aesthetic and water preservation purposes. "The Ministry of PUPR has also completed 15 reservoirs in KIPP IKN, serving aesthetic and water preservation functions," Basuki noted.

Access to Nusantara has been ensured, with routes from Balikpapan via the Balikpapan-Samarinda toll road, exiting at Km 11 Karangjoang gate, continuing on the national road, and re-entering the toll road, totaling 90 minutes over 88 kilometers.

"Access to the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of Nusantara from Balikpapan can be achieved via the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road KM 11 exit gate Karangjoang, then through the National Road Access TPK Kariangau and functional IKN toll (Sections 3A-3B-5A- Pulau Balang Panjang Bridge) with a total route distance of 88 km, taking approximately 90 minutes," he detailed.

The internal KIPP road network has been asphalted over 7 km, with the road to the State Palace and Garuda Palace being asphalted for 1,260 meters.

The infrastructure program for the State Palace is 95% complete, with furniture installation underway, targeting completion by August 10.
